The Graduate School gave a comprehensive and meticulous inspection of course instruction, students’ attendance, teaching equipments performing and working state of teaching. The inspection covered 35 graduate teaching units of XMU and altogether inspected 311 graduate courses. On the whole, during the first two weeks at the beginning of this term, the course teachers came to their position on time and made full preparation for the course; the graduate students went to classes on time and had classes full of spirit; the teaching discipline was orderly obeyed and the study atmosphere around the campus was excellent.

        However, problems were also noticed in the inspection. Firstly, there were 9 courses failing to handle procedures for changing courses as requested and course teachers changing time or place without permission, which occupied 2.9% of all courses inspected. Moreover, two courses were not opened as directed by the academic calendar until the second week. In regard to these problems exposed, Executive Dean Tao Tao repeatedly emphasized that maintaining teaching order and regularizing teaching behaviors played important role in the improvement of guaranteeing and monitoring system for graduate course quality. Meanwhile, the Graduate School would treat the result as part of graduate education performance management assessment of 2015.

        Routine work as it is, course inspection is a link of strengthening teaching activities government and improving teaching quality for graduates. In this term, the Graduate School will reinforce the monitoring of graduate courses and conduct course inspection irregularly, aiming to ensure graduate teaching regulation and quality.
