Executive Dean Tao Tao comprehensively summarized the overall situation of 2014 degree and graduate education work and also reported assignment of the work in 2015. He said this year the Graduate School would continue centering on ensuring and improving quality of graduate education and work under the guidance of rigorously regulating training process, intensifying development of teachers’ morality, improving quality and effectiveness of regulation and scientifically distributing resources; the Graduate School would contemplate and take actions positively to further improve research and practice capabilities of graduates. Degree and graduate education work in 2015 would concentrate on making further improvement in enhancing quality of student source, promoting reform of students education, continuing internationalization of graduate education, perfecting system of quality governing and monitoring, strengthening development of teachers’ morality, establishing a group of highly qualified supervisors, boosting development of information platform, sticking to regulation of degree and graduate education performance management assessment, propelling work in academic committee and faculty committee and so on.

        Deputy Dean of the Graduate School Chen Gong introduced 10 essential aspects of graduate education in this year, including continuing implementation of revised Training Program for Graduate Students of Research Master’s Degree, promoting development of star courses, strengthening administration of daily teaching, revising training program for graduate students of professional master’s degree, funding short-term teaching, internship and practice activities and et al.

        Deputy Dean of the Graduate School Tan Zhong stated the work of developing graduate degree and discipline in 2015 from 5 respects: approval qualification and graduation presentation application of graduates with equivalent education level, doctorial supervisors’ selection, conferment of graduates’ degree, and calculation and allocation of supervisors’ supporting funds. He explained in detail the forthcoming work plan of qualification assessment of degree conferment unit of XMU, and stressed the important time points and the content of the assessment.

        In the end, Vice President Wu Daguang concluded the conference. He said, graduates’ education should place quality as the core and the process must be strictly governed. Every training unit should seriously carry out the training program for graduate students of research master’s degree revised last year and exactly implement the reform. The Graduate School would conduct revise of the training program for graduate students of professional master’s degree this year, intensifying the reform of graduate education and administration. XMU would open courses for all students regardless of their schooling identification and fulfill the integration of courses for undergraduates, graduates and PhD students, propelling teaching administration to a new stage and improving the quality of graduates’ education.
