Recently, XMU signed a memorandum of cooperation with McGill University, a world-class university in Canada. McGill University agrees to recruit 10 outstanding students for PhD study from XMU every year.
According to the memorandum, starting from 2014, McGill University will admit no more than 10 students studying for doctor’s degree from the recommended list given by XMU graduate school, with a tuition-free policy in accordance with its own admission criteria. Living expenses of the candidates during their study in Canada will be covered by the CSC PhD project. In addition, the Memorandum reaches agreements on students, teachers, staff visits and exchanges between the two universities: exchanging one staff member of university graduate school for a short-term work each year, scholars from two universities engaging in joint academic research and co-publishing books, jointly participating in seminars and conferences, carrying out short-term academic programs with consent from both sides; carrying out master’s, doctoral, post-doctoral visiting scholar projects on mutual consent.
The signing of the memorandum is an important symbol of the globalization of graduate education in our university, and a beneficial attempt in substantive cooperation and exchange with world-class universities, which is conducive to cultivating high-quality talents in our university, promoting the government funded overseas study in our school work, and improving the level of internationalization of graduate education management in our university.
