Description of the course

This course is an introduction to the Chinese language and culture, specially planned for the international graduate students who wish to begin Chinese language and have interests in Chinese culture. The teaching will be based on the everyday communication, along with the basic linguistic knowledge of the Chinese language, including Chinese phonetics, Chinese lexical, Chinese Grammar and practical Chinese Characters for daily life, as well as the cultural knowledge for foreign students’social life in China. Participants will learn the systematical language knowledge through practices, and will be encouraged to do some research work on the linguistic and cultural comparisons to cope with the social life on campus and in the public.

Assessment

The assessment of the students’ performance is based on “continuous evaluation” which includes homework assignments, quizzesas well as the final test.

The final mark is calculated as follows:
