The Graduate School Initiated a Forum for the Construction of Doctoral Supervisor Team
To obtain a more comprehensive and better understanding of the situation and problems faced by the doctoral supervisor team in Xiamen University as well as to promote the reform in the training model for graduate students, on December 23 in Siming Campus and December 25 in Xiang’an Campus, the Graduate School held one forum for the construction of doctoral supervisor team respectively. Vice Deans and representatives of young teachers from all colleges and research institutes qualified to train doctoral candidates were invited to this forum. Tan Zhong, Vice Dean and Director of the Postgraduate Degrees and Program Office, hosted the forum.
The forum enjoyed a warm atmosphere. In terms of construction of doctoral supervisor team, the existing problems and ways to motivate young teachers to join in supervisor groups, leaders and representatives of young teachers who have direct contact with students spoke their mind freely. Many suggestions have been put forward to the future development of doctoral supervisor groups.
Dean Tan expressed his gratefulness to all attendees. He also said that the graduate school would seriously treat advices collected from this forum, that doctoral supervisors and other qualified teachers would be integrated and regulations and incentive measures would be perfected so as to promote essential development of graduate education.
