Recently, Department of Postgraduate Education (Office of the State Council Academic Degrees Committee) was to organize implementation of curriculum construction for academic degrees. Under the graduate school’s lead and related colleges’ cooperation, Xiamen University has been selected as one of the experimental units, with 550,000 RMB provided by the Ministry of Education as financial aids.

  Organizing the implementation of curriculum construction for academic degrees is an important measure carried out by Department of Postgraduate Education. By doing this, Department of Postgraduate Education is enforcing decisions made in the document “MOE’s Opinions on Improving Curriculum Construction for Academic Degrees”, thus improving postgraduate students’ qualifications. Department of Postgraduate Education aims to support several experimental units as models to provide experience for other units. Xiamen University will first select colleges which have prominent performances in the revision of training program for postgraduate students as pilots.

  According to the requirements, experimental units should focus on institution building, curriculum construction and teaching reform; meanwhile, they should design curriculum based on related institutions and courses. In the near future, Xiamen University will combine training program for postgraduate students with the task of curriculum construction. By making scientific plans, strengthening the construction of teaching groups, optimizing teaching content and curriculum, updating teaching methods, improving assessment system of course, establishing scientific evaluation system as well as open and flexible management of course selection, etc., Xiamen University will conduct comprehensive construction, providing experience and examples for other units.
