Led by Deputy Director Ma Aimin and Deputy Director Zhang Fangxiao, a group of 5 people from Office of Academic Affairs in the Graduate School of East China Normal University came to survey in Xiamen University in the morning of March 26^th. Professor Chen Gong, deputy dean of the Graduate School of XMU, Fan Lijuan, deputy director of Office of Postgraduate Degrees and Disciplines, and Luo Chunxia, deputy director of Office of General Affairs had a penetrating talk  with the guests in the meeting office of the Graduate School, the content of which covers various aspects concerning graduate students’ degree and education in both universities.

        Firstly, Deputy Dean Chen Gong warmly welcomed the survey group’s arriving and introduced successful experience of revising Training Program for Graduate Students of Academic Master’s Degree in Xiamen University. Then he mentioned that in order to operate the revise smoothly, the Graduate School had conducted extensive investigation in previous preparation, sending electronic questionnaires to PhD students and doctorial supervisors all around the university to collect their views and suggestions about schooling and credit system of graduate students as well as the reform of the Training Program. The Graduate School also gathered hundreds of teachers returning from overseas to negotiate the reform plan. During the revise, the Graduate School asked every first-level program to identify 3 best training programs in China and abroad respectively after researching first-level programs in both scopes. All the first-level programs were demanded to draft and revise the Training Program of Graduate Students of XMU under the guidance of principles of high-level, linking masters and PhD students together, first-level program, sharing resources and interdiscipline. Moreover, the Graduate School held several symposiums for every program’s report. Later on, Deputy Dean Chen Gong introduced key work in next stage of graduate students’ education in XMU: to manage the education process rigorously, to make sure the revise plan fully carried out and to launch the work of revising the Training Program for Graduate Students of Professional Master’s Degree.

       Deputy Director Ma Aimin praised the achievement we’ve made in revising Training Program for Graduate Students of Academic Master’s Degree. After introducing the development of degree and graduate students’ education in East China Normal University, he pointed out that East China Normal University and Xiamen University have been closely connected and shared similar distribution of disciplines; thus, the two universities should enhance communication and learn from each other to progress simultaneously.

       During the meeting, both sides exchanged opinions on education of graduate students of professional master’s degree, regulation of informationizing graduate students’ scientific research fruits and the system of graduate students’ self-service printing. They agreed that the two universities shared common advantages in discipline development and graduate students’ education, desired complementary learning and therefore cooperation and communication in graduate students’ education should be strengthened. After the meeting, Ma Aimin’s group visited the system of graduate students’ self-service printing, acquiring knowledge of the informatization work of graduate students in XMU on-site.
